The Violent History of Germany's Blood Relics

Beginning in the 1300s in Germany and Austria, shrines of holy blood relics were so popular that those churches which put these relics on display quickly became esteemed pilgrimage sites. However, these relics also led to slaughter of at least 12,000 Jews. And ironically, the way to create more relics was through futher desecration of the host.
